Born from the depths of Sydney’s Northern Beaches ksubi has evolved into one of the most notorious fashion labels in the world. Undeniably original, they’ve become infamous for doing things their own way. The result has earned them a significant reputation along with a cult following.
Ksubi has never failed to grab peoples attention; whether it is releasing one hundred live rats into the crowd at their first fashion show STRANGERS IN PARADISE Mercedes Australian Fashion Week; or the likes of their raunchy online sex pop culture magazine SEX & FASHION; or their KSUBI FOR DICKHEADS campaign that used male genitalia to model their sunglass range, they’ve managed to consistently raise the bar in shameless self promotion through cheek and frivolity. For ksubi, the mess and noise created along the way is as much a part of the reward as the collectable denim or sought after fashion they design.
Taking an innovative, and at times outrageous (perhaps its secret to success) approach towards fashion, ksubi has built a brand that breed’s creativity. From humble beginnings described as “hard work, music, parties, surfing, skating, more music, more parties, more surfing, more skating”, ksubi had developed its unique lifestyle aesthetic and has grown the brand into a phenomenon of its own making.
‘WAR’, ksubi’s latest collection, is a salute to those fighting against the global system, and takes inspiration from those strong enough to stand tough. Ksubi approaches the concept of ‘Luxury Street’ with its notorious style this collection, combining disparate elements to create a new hybrid aesthetic to shake-up the city. ‘WAR’ redefines the way eternal ksubi swagger is worn. Working closely with famed stylist, Christine Centenera on the collection, ksubi gave rebirth to the rebellious grunge of the ‘90s and modernised it with an engineered sensibility.
